Live Incident Calls
The Brownstown fire department has four fire stations located throughout the township. Two of which are staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week with a minimum of four firefighter/paramedic personnel within each and one station part-time with a minimum of two firefighter/paramedics. This is done with a total of thirty (24 hour) career firefighter/paramedic personnel. The department provides a broad range of services to the public, some of which include: Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention & Fire Investigation, Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous Materials first response, Motor Vehicle Crash Response and Extrication and other special operations. The department utilizes the latest technological equipment available to the fire service which includes; computer aided dispatch computers within the apparatus, 12 lead EKG telemetry, video laryngoscope just to name a few. The department answers approximately 3000 emergency calls for service each year and covers an area of 23 sq. mi. with a population of 30,000. The department currently carries a ISO classification of 6. The Department has an Auto Aid response agreement with the neighboring city of Trenton. The departments headquarters at Station No. 1 was opened in January 1997. The building houses all administrative offices and serves as the departments training center. The Fire chief, Fire inspector, and an administrative assistant, work from this office. All fire-related permits, plan reviews and other administrative duties are conducted out of this office.
